Motive Driver App - A Guide for Drivers

Use the email address you provided on your application to log in to the trucking app. Ensure Bluetooth is ON to connect to your Vehicle Gateway (ELD). 

Connecting to Your Vehicle

Slide up the bottom drawer on the home screen. Tap "Select a Vehicle." Choose your truck number from the list. Wait for the green ELD icon to appear—this means you're connected and ready to roll, making the most of our driver onboarding resources.

Automatic Driving Status: When you hit 5 MPH, the trucking app automatically switches you to 'Driving.'

Manual Status Changes: When stationary, tap your current status to switch between On Duty, Off Duty, or Sleeper Berth.

The HOS Clocks: Keep an eye on your four main clocks:

Break: Time until your required 30-minute rest.

Drive: Remaining driving time for the day.

Shift: Total time left in your work window.

Cycle: Total hours remaining in your 7 or 8-day cycle.

Daily Inspections: Complete your Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections directly in the trucking app under the 'Logs' or 'Maintenance' section. Company Policy requires a 15-Minute Pre-Trip and 5-Minute Post-Trip. Both Pre and Post-Trip need to be logged on Duty and noted as a Pre-Trip and Post-Trip in your Logbook. For new drivers, these inspections are essential components of our driver onboarding resources. 

Uploading Documents: We do NOT use the Documents section in Motive - You can disregard.

How to Use the Trucking App: Tap the menu icon and select "DOT Inspection Mode" to access important driver onboarding resources. Before handing your device to an officer, make sure to tap "Begin Inspection." Security Tip: You can set a 4-digit access code to lock the app in this mode, ensuring that the officer can only view your logs and nothing else on your phone. 

Sending Logs: If the officer requests a digital file, utilize the "Send Output File" option to transmit it directly to the DOT web service.

Safety Hub: View your safety score and review any 'coachable events' to help keep our fleet the safest on the road. For effective driver onboarding resources, utilize the trucking app to ensure you have all the necessary information at your fingertips. Messaging: Stay in touch with our team and up to date on any information sent through the app's secure messaging feature.

Q: I can't connect to my truck using the trucking app. What do I do?

A: Ensure Bluetooth is on, restart the app, and try re-selecting the vehicle. If it still fails, contact Dispatch or Motive 24-hour Support.

Q: How do I get the Wi-Fi password for my truck?

A: Message an office staff member directly through the app to request the hotspot password. You can also find driver onboarding resources within the app for additional assistance.

Q: What if I forgot to sign yesterday's log?

A: Go to the "Logs" tab, select the date, and tap "Sign" at the bottom.
